Budweiser rewarding consumers with trips to South Africa
Budweiser will reward many Vietnamese with trips to South Africa for this summer’s FIFA World Cup — not just Vietnam’s top amateur footballers, but the company’s loyal customers, as well.
This month, while the second annual ‘Bud 6v6 Cup’ is being contested in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang and Nha Trang, Vietnamese nationals who purchase Budweiser at select stores — or at participating bars and restaurants — will receive a scratch card that instantly reveals if they’ve won one of four all-expenses-paid trips to see the final match of the FIFA World Cup on July 11 in Johannesburg city, South Africa.
Consumers at participating bars and restaurants who don’t instantly win final-match tickets are still entered to win one of two trips to see a pair of Round-of-16 matches in June. With that prize comes an added kick: the chance to present the ‘Man of the Match’ trophy after a game — an honor never before bestowed upon a Vietnamese.
“Whether you are a die-hard football fan or not, meeting one of the world’s top players in front of thousands of spectators has got to be a thrill,” said Mr. Xavier Codron, managing director of Budweiser Vietnam. “The memory will undoubtedly last a lifetime.”
Budweiser Vietnam’s latest promotion happens at the same time the popular ‘Bud 6v6 Cup’ stages its qualifying rounds. The ‘Bud 6v6 Cup’ is a global football tournament that started in 1998 and debuted in Vietnam last year.
The 2010 version begins March 7, with 6-man teams competing for the national championship. It ends July 1, with the winners of 10 countries playing for the world title in Pretoria city, South Africa.
The winning team from Vietnam will travel to South Africa along with the promotion’s two luckiest ‘Man of the Match’ winners, selected April 4 at a lucky draw during the ‘Bud 6v6 Cup’ national finals in Ho Chi Minh City.
The promotion’s other four winners and up to six Budweiser trade partners — such as best wholesaler and best outlet — will go the final game.
